Founded by Ana and Crisostomo Angel in 2006, Angel Family Farm is a family-owned farm located in Goshen, New York. Originally from Progreso and Pueblo Nuevo, Mexico, Ana and Crisostomo grew up farming and even after they immigrated to the US, still harbored dreams of getting back to the land. Their opportunity came when they were accepted into GrowNYC’s New Farmer Development Project, which helps immigrants with agricultural experience establish their own farms. In this program Ana trained in organic techniques like intercropping and working with beneficial insects to keep harmful bugs at bay. Their farm has since flourished to what it is now, a 17-acre sustainable farm providing for farmers markets and CSAs in New York City and New Jersey. It brings Ana and Crisostomo peace of mind knowing the farm grows using sustainable practices. They believe in providing a safe product for their family and for the communities they serve.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is like a magazine subscription, but instead you are receiving a weekly subscription of fresh farm vegetables! The Harvest Share CSA gives farmers the ability to grow food directly for the community and ensures access to locally grown produce. The Angel Family Farm produce box features Mexican and other seasonal vegetables that participants pick up weekly for 20 weeks. Produce pick up will be on Tuesdays from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Each week, a valued share of $30 will be subsidized so you only have to pay $11.
As Harvest Share CSA participant, you will be asked to participate in a few surveys and a measure of fruit and vegetable intake. The surveys include one at the beginning of the program (45 minutes), a couple feedback surveys (15 minutes) throughout the 20-week CSA, and one at the end of the program (45 minutes). Participants will receive a gift card upon completion of the longer (45 minute) survey each time.
